Cauliflower Masal












Ingredients

Cauliflower - 2 cups
Onion - 1 big size
Tomato - 1 small size
Oil - 2 tblsp
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tblsp
Sombu - 1 tsp
Pattai - 1 inch piece
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Chopped coriander leaves - 3 tblsp
Home made sambar powder - 1 tblsp
Turmeric powder - 1/3 tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Salt


Preparation
1. Clean and cut cauliflower to small pieces and boil for 2 min with water and 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
Wash twice in running water to remove impurities.
2. Heat oil in pan and temper with sombu, pattai and curry leaves. Fry onion till soft and transparent. Add ginger garlic paste and fry till all turns brown. Add tomato and fry till its mushy. Add tumeric powder, sambar powder and mix well. Add 1/2 cup of water and boil.Add cauliflower and salt. Mix well and close pan. When water is reduced and cauliflower is soft and cooked add coriander leaves and garam masala. Mix and cook for 2 more min and switch off stove. Serve hot with dosa, chappathi or any rice items.


Note
1. As cauliflower might have small worms in green or white color, make sure you boil it for 2 min and wash 2 or 3 times. Always follow this as first step for any cauliflower recipe.
2. You can also add boiled potato, green peas and fried cashew along with cauliflower. Garam masala is optional.
